In November 2021 Mindseye Development CIC were awarded £4,990 through the Positive Futures Fund towards the Mentoring to Greatness project.

Mindseye Development CIC delivers a range of projects to help young people into employment, with a focus on creative and construction industries. The £4,990 grant has directly supported the Mentoring to Greatness project. Simeon Moore, CEO at Mindseye Development CIC, explains:

“The project focuses on our development of partnerships with employers and training providers to help us support young people who are struggling to find work, such as negative lifestyle choices, to become training and employment ready. We know there is a need for this as many parents from across the city have contacted us for support with their young teenagers who are either at risk or involved in gang culture and youth violence.”

The grant has enabled Mindseye Development CIC to support five young adults into full-time employment and gain regular freelance work. Simeon continued:

“One of the young people we supported was unemployed for over 12 months and after going to work on a construction site he was promoted within six weeks to a supervisory role, he shared that he would have never come out of his comfort zone if we were not there to have his back.

“We helped another young person into college to complete his level 2 in English and Maths to gain an apprenticeship in construction. We also supported two young men to gain their green CSCS cards and are now awaiting interviews.

“This grant has helped these young people to get off the streets and has given them the opportunity to change their life and gain training or employment in an industry that they’re interested in. Thanks to the Positive Futures Fund we’re now in a better position to support even more young people in our community.”
