In March 2020 the Foundation launched the Northfield Neighbourhood Network Scheme Fund (NNS) thanks to Birmingham City Council.

The Foundation have been delivering the fund alongside Age UK Birmingham, Gateway Family Services and Northfield Community Partnership ever since. The fund was originally set up to provide support and opportunities for older people in the Edgbaston and Northfield areas of Birmingham however during the pandemic the funds focus was switched to support emerging issues.

More recently the Emergency Assistance Food & Essential Supplies Grant has been created to support those in need in the region. Matthew Bick, Senior Commissioning Officer at Birmingham City Council, said:

“Our relationship with Heart of England is through our Neighbourhood Network Schemes which we have all around the city. We have one in each of Birmingham’s ten constituencies and Heart of England work with us in Edgbaston and Northfield.

“What they achieve for us is quite a lot of efficiency in terms of how we manage a small grants scheme to develop community assets, they also bring in additional investment to Edgbaston and Northfield and we have got a very good working relationship with them.”
