Jenny Whateley

grants officer

I joined the Foundation in July 2019 as Grants Officer, and lead on some of the grant programmes. I assess applications we receive, and produce reports to assist our grant panels in their decision-making.

I’ve had experience in grant making since 2000.  This is my third role having worked previously for BBC Children in Need and for the National Lottery Heritage Fund. I have another 20 years of working in the voluntary sector, for a local authority and for the NHS, at local and regional levels. Amongst my roles, I’ve managed a mental health charity, set up three new organisations including a women’s health and information centre, worked in a women’s refuge, and been a trustee of four community organisations. I am particularly interested in management, governance, and organisations that are user-led.

I try to grow my own veg, have a strong interest in the environment, wildlife, and science. I enjoy live music and I’m a beginner Japanese Taiko drummer.
