First Pledge Arrives for Charity’s Surviving Winter Appeal

More than 500 vulnerable older people died in Coventry and Warwickshire last winter from causes directly attributable to the cold and poor living conditions – far more than the norm and the tip of an “at risk” iceberg. 

 First to pledge her Winter Fuel Payment to the appeal was Sally Carrick, a Foundation trustee. Speaking about the appeal local business woman Sally said: “It can feel slightly uncomfortable receiving Government support for something as basic as winter fuel when you are not in need; this is a wonderfully imaginative and innovative idea to help those in real need locally.”

Community Groups Support Local Charity

Monday, September 26th, 2011

Sharing cups of coffee and slices of cake turned into vital donations for our charity this summer. 

We received £250 in total from community groups; Broad Street Meeting Hall Ltd, Kingsbury Methodist Community Outreach Group, Whitestone Over 60′s Club and Friends of Mancetter.

London 2012 Comes to Stoke Aldermoor

Stoke Aldermoor residents were getting sporty on Saturday 10th September at Aldermoor Farm Primary School
as part of the build up to London 2012.

The games had a healthy theme with a ‘smoothie bike’ to pedal yourself fit, while making a
delicious smoothie. Health checks also took place organised by Coventry City
Council’s Health Development Officer.

Earlsdon Festival May Day – Monday 7th May

Everyone is invited to join us we celebrate Earlsdon – its people, its friends and its activities.  We shall also be raising money for many charities and in the process have a great timei t’s a family event with attractions everyone will enjoy.

 Earlsdon Street – Market stalls and pockets of entertainment. 

Earlsdon Primary School Playground – Children’s activities including tennis, martial arts, basketball, crazy races and games.                                                                                

Earlsdon Library – Children’s story telling .   

Earlsdon Methodist Church  – Refreshments, craft demonstrations and workshops, art exhibition and sale, history group display. 

Age UK Gilbert Richards Centre – Woodworking and craft demonstrations. 

Criterion Theatre – ‘May we sing’ a festival of choirs plus refreshment. 

St Barbara’s Church – Food based crafts, WI Cupcake challenge and refreshments.

 The activities start at about 1030 a.m. and will close at 3.30 p.m. 

Parking is very limited in Earlsdon, the nearest large car park is the Park and Ride at the Memorial Park – about 5 minutes walk.
